Stress is a unique condition. It can either be a result of the physical state of a person, the mental or emotional state or a series of combined situations. Stress can be something that is immediate. It could also be a compounding emotional and physical condition. When stress hits a certain mark on a person, it could affect their health.
Stress and the body
Stress affects the brain and also causes many problems to other body organs such as the heart, stomach, reproductive system, intestines, muscles and even the skin. Stress is part of nature, but that does not make it something that we should just embrace and accept. As much as stress is part of the daily evolutionary aspect of humanity, there is also a tipping point. Stress happens all the time but people have become a lot more stressed nowadays and that instead of providing evolutionary factors, it provides deleterious results to the individuals.
Stress and physical reactions
Stress has been linked to a number of symptoms such as elevated blood pressure and heart rate, palpitations, headaches, stomach cramps, constipation, nausea and other conditions. Some of the symptoms and conditions are yet to be proven by medical science but experts agree that too much stress can be detrimental to the health. This is due to the elevated levels of hormones that affect how the body performs. One specific hormone is cortisol that has influence on the metabolism of glucose, immunity, blood pressure regulation, blood sugar control, and response to inflammations. When cortisol levels are high, the body goes haywire, causing these physical symptoms.
Holistic methodology
In order to relieve stress, it is necessary to handle the situation with mental, emotional and physical preparedness. Each person reacts differently to stress so there is not one specific system to follow. However, by combining mental, emotional and physical methods, it is very possible to mitigate the condition before it becomes too late. Stress, when not addresses as early as possible, will have a very strong, negative impact to the person, physically, mentally and socially as a stressed person will manifest these situations externally as well.
